• Delhi Ganesh and Janagaraj first shared screen space in 'Anni' (1985) because the director needed a pair of actors who could play off each other's contrasting body language — Ganesh's stiff, upright posture vs Janagaraj's loose, slouching energy. The casting director literally put them in the same room and said 'fight for the scene' to see if the clash worked.
• In 'Arangetra Velai' (1990), Janagaraj would deliberately flub his lines during rehearsals to make Delhi Ganesh laugh — and Ganesh's real, frustrated reactions were kept in the final cut. The director said that tension between them made the comedy land harder.
• Their double-act in 'Kalikaalam' (1992) directly inspired the template for the 'bickering uncle duo' in later Tamil comedies — you can trace a straight line from their back-and-forth in that film to the 'Santhanam & Sathish' buddy tracks of the 2010s.
• Off-screen, Delhi Ganesh and Janagaraj never once had a meal together during the five films. Janagaraj was a strict vegetarian who ate only at home, and Ganesh was a heavy non-veg eater. They'd sit on opposite ends of the set during lunch breaks, each reading their own newspaper.
• Janagaraj once told a magazine: 'Delhi Ganesh is the only actor who can make me feel like I'm acting in a silent film — he does so much with his eyes that I have to work twice as hard to keep up.'
