• Ilavarasu and Madhan Bob first shared screen space in 'Pallavan' (2003) because director S. P. Rajkumar needed two distinct comic foils for the lead — one loud and physical (Bob), one dry and sarcastic (Ilavarasu). They had never met before the first day of shoot.
• In 'Kusthi' (2006), Ilavarasu played the straight man to Madhan Bob's frantic wrestler-trainer. Bob would deliberately over-deliver his lines in rehearsal, forcing Ilavarasu to deadpan even harder — a push-pull rhythm they kept in every scene together.
