• Kushboo was the bigger star when they first paired up for Varusham Padhinaaru (1989). Charlie was a newcomer. She reportedly insisted the director keep him in the role after initial doubts.
• Charlie was the comic relief in most of their films. But in Jathi Malli (1993), Kushboo matched his slapstick beat for beat. That film is the only one where she fully stepped into his physical comedy zone.
• They shot five films together in a single year — 1993. That's Uthama Raasa, Vedan, Purusha Lakshanam, and two others. They spent more time with each other than with their own families that year.
• Their 1992 hit Singaravelan was the film that made Charlie a household name as a comedian. Before that, he was just a side actor. Kushboo's star power pulled audiences in, but Charlie walked out with the career.
