Pathini(1997)
Pathini is a 1997 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by P. Vasu. The film stars Jayaram and Khushbu in lead roles, with Prakash Raj and Janagaraj in supporting parts. The story follows Kannamma, a woman trapped in a violent marriage who fakes her own death to escape her abusive husband. She builds a new life in a distant city and finds love with a kind doctor. The film is loosely based on the Hollywood thriller Sleeping with the Enemy (1991). It won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, including Best Film Portraying Women in Good Light and a Special Prize for Khushbu. Despite critical praise for its social message, the film underperformed at the box office. It was released on 26 September 1997.

Storyline
