• They first shared screen space in Periya Marudhu (1994) because director N. K. Viswanathan needed a seasoned villain to match Vijay's raw energy. Nambiar was 75 then, but he insisted on doing his own stunts in the climax fight — Vijay later said he was terrified Nambiar would get hurt.
• In Raasaiyya (1995), Nambiar played the cold-blooded antagonist while Vijay played his loyal henchman. The tension came from Nambiar's stillness — he barely moved his face — forcing Vijay to overcompensate with frantic body language. That push-pull made their scenes crackle.
