• Guru Sishyan (1988) was supposed to star someone else opposite Rajinikanth. Director S. P. Muthuraman was struggling to find a co-star who could match Rajini's energy. He picked Prabhu on a hunch — and the pairing clicked so hard they made two films that same year.
• In Dharmathin Thalaivan (1988), Rajinikanth played the loud, impulsive brother while Prabhu played the calm, righteous one. They deliberately swapped their usual screen personas — Rajini held back his mannerisms to let Prabhu's sincerity land harder. That contrast is why the emotional scenes still work.
• Chandramukhi (2005) was the film that proved Prabhu could hold his own against a superstar in a comedy-horror blockbuster. Its success directly led to him being cast in more multi-starrers with younger heroes — without this film, his second innings might not have happened.
• Prabhu and Rajinikanth never hung out off-screen. No dinners, no phone calls. But on set, they had a silent rule: never upstage each other. If one got a big laugh, the other would step back and let him have the moment. Mutual respect, not friendship.
