• Mannadhi Mannan (1960) was their first film together, but it almost didn't happen. Director M. G. Ramachandran was casting the female lead and Padmini was not the first choice. She was brought in last minute after another actress dropped out, and her pairing with P. S. Veerappa as the villain became the film's unexpected highlight.
• In Vikramaadhithan (1962), P. S. Veerappa played the menacing king while Padmini played the queen. What made their scenes crackle was Veerappa's booming, theatrical delivery — he set a loud, aggressive pace. Padmini responded by underplaying her reactions, letting his anger bounce off her stillness. That push-pull made every confrontation feel real.
• Off-screen, P. S. Veerappa was a strict disciplinarian on set, but Padmini was the only co-star he'd let tease him.
