• Padmini was the bigger star when they paired up. M. N. Rajam was still finding her footing. Director A. Bhimsingh bet on the pairing for Deivapiravi (1960) because he wanted Padmini's grace to anchor Rajam's raw energy.
• In Deivapiravi, Padmini played the composed elder sister. Rajam played the impulsive younger one. Off-camera, Padmini actually coached Rajam on dialogue delivery for the emotional outburst scenes — she'd whisper cues between takes.
