• Nagma was already a huge star in Telugu when she signed Baashha. Anandaraj was cast as the villain opposite her. She later admitted she was nervous acting opposite him because his screen presence was so intense — but he deliberately softened his delivery in their scenes together to make her comfortable.
• In Baashha, Anandaraj played a menacing gangster who kidnaps Nagma's character. The scene where he corners her in a warehouse was shot in one take because both actors fed off each other's energy — Anandaraj's slow, threatening walk made Nagma's fear look completely real, and the director kept the final cut exactly as shot.
• During the shoot of Ragasiya Police, Anandaraj and Nagma developed a running joke: every time the director yelled 'cut', Anandaraj would switch to speaking in broken Telugu to make Nagma laugh. She said it broke the tension of their heavy action scenes.
• Their pairing in Baashha was so successful that it directly inspired the villain-heroine dynamic in the 1996 Telugu film 'Ooha' — where the antagonist and the female lead share a charged, uneasy screen presence. That film's director openly credited Baashha's casting choice.
• Nagma once said in a 1997 interview: 'Anandaraj sir never treated me like a co-star. He treated me like a younger sister. That's why our fight scenes looked so real — because I trusted him completely.'
• Janakiraman (1997) was originally offered to a different actress. Nagma stepped in only after Anandaraj personally requested the director to cast her — he felt their previous two films had built a shorthand that would make the emotional scenes land harder. The film still flopped, but their scenes together were the only part critics praised.
