• M. A. Thirumugam cast M. R. Radha in Kudumba Thalaivan (1962) right after Radha's massive success in the villain role in Enga Veettu Pillai. Thirumugam bet on Radha's intensity to anchor a family drama — and Radha delivered so hard that the film became a sleeper hit.
• On the sets of Dharmam Thalai Kaakkum (1963), Thirumugam would give Radha a single line of dialogue and let him improvise the rest. Radha's raw, unpredictable energy forced Thirumugam to shoot longer takes — and that loose style became the film's signature tension.
