• Ramya Krishnan was already a star when she signed Thambi Thanga Kambi (1988), but Vijayakanth was still finding his footing. She agreed to the film only after the director promised her a role with real weight — not just a love interest. That film became her first major hit opposite him.
• In Captain Prabhakaran (1991), Ramya Krishnan played a village belle who stands up to Vijayakanth's rowdy character. She later said in an interview that he deliberately held back his intensity in their scenes together, letting her take the lead — something he rarely did with other heroines.
