Vaigasi Poranthachu is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Radha Bharathi in his directorial debut. The film stars Prashanth and Kaveri in lead roles, with Sulakshana, Sangeetha, and K. Prabhakaran in supporting parts. Set in a Tamil village, the story follows Kumaresan, a poor but brilliant student mocked for not knowing his father, and Ranjitha, the spoiled daughter of the village head who falls in love with him. Their relationship faces violent opposition from her father, leading to an elopement and a shocking revelation about Kumaresan's parentage. The film was a commercial success and was remade in Hindi as I Love You (1992). Deva composed the soundtrack in a single day, earning the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Music Director. The film was released on 16 November 1990.

Storyline
Kumaresan is a poor village boy mocked for not having a father. He falls in love with Ranjitha, the rich and spoiled daughter of the village head. When her father discovers their love, he orders Kumaresan beaten and sends his henchmen to hunt the young couple. The lovers must escape and uncover a buried family secret that changes everything.
