• They first paired up in Vetri Padigal (1991) because director R. K. Selvamani needed a fresh combo. Sarath Kumar was still finding his footing, and Srividya was the established star who agreed to do the film only after reading the full script — a rare move for a leading lady then.
• In Oor Mariyadhai (1992), Srividya deliberately slowed down her dialogue delivery to match Sarath Kumar's raw, untrained style. That pacing made their scenes feel more real than polished — and it's the only reason that film's emotional beats still land despite the 3.6 rating.
• Band Master (1993) was supposed to be a forgettable B-movie, but their on-screen bickering as a married couple caught the attention of K. Balachander. He later cast Sarath Kumar in a key role in his series — directly because of the natural rhythm he saw between Sarath and Srividya in that film.
• During the shoot of Moondravadhu Kann (1993), Srividya would cook traditional Kerala meals for the unit every Sunday. Sarath Kumar later said she treated him like a younger brother — and that she was the only co-star who ever called him by his real name, not his screen name.
• Sarath Kumar once told a magazine: 'Srividya akka taught me how to cry on camera. In Oor Mariyadhai, I couldn't get the tears right. She held my hand off-screen and whispered her own childhood story to me. That take is still in the film.'
• Thenkasi Pattanam (2002) was their last film together — and it marked the end of an era. After this, Srividya moved away from mainstream Tamil cinema to focus on Malayalam and TV serials. Sarath Kumar never again had a regular female co-star with whom he made more than three films.
