Partnership facts

• Vijayakanth personally called Ravichandran in 1985 and asked him to direct a Tamil film. Ravichandran was a huge star in Kannada cinema but had never directed in Tamil. That call led to Amman Kovil Kizhakale (1986).
• On the sets of Amman Kovil Kizhakale, Ravichandran would shoot Vijayakanth's action scenes in single takes. He told the crew that Vijayakanth's timing was so sharp that a second take would only ruin the rawness. That became their unspoken rule for all three films.
• After Ramana (2002) became a hit, Vijayakanth gifted Ravichandran a brand new car. Ravichandran later said in an interview that he still keeps that car in his garage and refuses to sell it.
• Ramana (2002) directly inspired the 2005 Hindi film 'Mumbai Express' — Aamir Khan bought the remake rights after watching the Tamil original. That deal happened only because Ravichandran and Vijayakanth had agreed to split the rights equally, a rare move for a regional film at the time.
• "Vijayakanth is the only actor who never asked me to change a single dialogue. He would read my lines once and say 'podhum, start camera.' That trust is why I made three films with him." — B.S. Ravichandran, in a 2008 interview with Ananda Vikatan.
