• Ranjith was a rising villain when Manorama specifically requested him for Sindhu Nathi Poo (1994). She told the director she needed a male lead who could match her intensity — and she picked him herself.
• On the set of Natpukkaga (1998), Manorama would deliberately flub her lines in the first take just to make Ranjith laugh. He said it broke his concentration but also made him drop his usual stoic act — and that raw, unguarded reaction stayed in the final cut.
