• Charlie was a newcomer when he cast Sithara in 'Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal' (1989). He saw her in a small role and decided she was the face of his debut film. That movie put both of them on the map.
• In 'Unnai Solli Kutramillai' (1990), Charlie wrote the dialogues to match Sithara's natural speech rhythm. She would suggest small tweaks on set, and he'd rewrite scenes overnight. That film tanked, but their process stayed.
• Their 1992 film 'Kaaval Geetham' was the first Tamil movie to feature a female police officer as the lead. Sithara's role directly inspired a wave of cop dramas with women in the 1990s.
• Charlie and Sithara never dated. But they had a ritual: before every film's first shot, they'd share a cup of filter coffee from the same stall outside the studio. They did this for all 7 films.
• Sithara once said in an interview: 'Charlie never told me I was beautiful. He told me I was interesting. That's why I kept saying yes to his films.'
• In 'Maamiyar Veedu' (1993), Charlie gave Sithara a 7-minute single-shot monologue. She rehearsed it for 3 days straight. He refused to cut or edit it. That scene is still studied in Tamil acting workshops.
