• In Dookudu (2011), Vinaya Prasad was cast as Mahesh Babu's mother. Surekha Vani played her younger sister. The director Srinu Vaitla specifically wanted two actresses who looked like they could be real siblings — he auditioned them together to check their natural banter.
• On the sets of Doosukeltha (2013), Vinaya Prasad and Surekha Vani would rehearse their scenes without the male lead first. They built the emotional rhythm of the mother-daughter relationship entirely between themselves, then brought the hero in. The director said their timing made his job easier.
