• In Nee Pathi Naan Pathi (1991), Rahman deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Gouthami's natural rhythm. He later said that made their scenes feel more real than rehearsed.
• Rahman and Gouthami first worked together in Seetha (1990), but the director originally wanted a different heroine. Gouthami was a last-minute replacement after the original actress walked out.
