• Sivaji Ganesan personally requested director A. P. Nagarajan to cast Nalini as his leading lady in Raja Rishi (1985). He had seen her work in Malayalam and believed her classical dance training would match the film's mythological setting.
• In Saadhanai (1986), Nalini's character was a mute woman. Sivaji deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery in their scenes together so her expressive silences would land harder. He told the crew he was 'acting with her eyes, not her voice.'
• During the shoot of Veera Pandiyan (1987), Nalini was pregnant. Sivaji insisted the production schedule be rearranged so she never had to shoot in the hot sun or stand for long takes. He personally checked on her between shots.
