
Saadhanai(1986)
Saadhanai is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by A. S. Prakasam. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Prabhu, K. R. Vijaya, and Nalini. The story follows a film director who dreams of making a movie about the legendary love of Salim and Anarkali. He finds his Anarkali in a beggar, but family jealousy forces her to leave. Years later, he casts the woman's daughter and his own son in the film, leading to tragedy. The film was launched at Vijaya Studios with C. V. Sridhar switching on the camera. Scenes related to Salim and Anarkali were shot at Vijaya Vauhini Studios. Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtrack. Critical reception was mixed, with praise for the first half but criticism of the climax. The film was released on 10 January 1986.
