• They first shared screen space in Kranti (1981), a multi-starrer directed by Manoj Kumar. Hema was the leading lady, Prem was the villain — and they barely had a scene together. Their first proper face-off as hero-villain came eight years later in Santosh (1989).
• In Tyaagi (1992), Prem Chopra played a ruthless landlord who terrorizes the village. Hema Malini’s character stands up to him in a courtroom scene. Prem later admitted in an interview that Hema’s controlled fury in that scene made him genuinely nervous — he had to ask for a retake because he forgot his lines watching her.
• Despite playing adversaries on screen, Prem Chopra and Hema Malini shared a warm off-screen bond. On the sets of Santosh (1989), Prem would often bring homemade sweets for Hema, knowing she had a sweet tooth. She once joked that he was the only villain who fed her instead of poisoning her.
• Their fourth and most recent film together, Hum Mein Shahenshah Koun (2026), marks a rare reunion after 34 years. It’s also the first time they play a married couple on screen — a complete reversal of their earlier dynamic where Prem was always the antagonist to Hema’s heroine.
