• Amrish Puri was the one who suggested Jagdeep for the comic role in Nagina (1986). The director Harmesh Malhotra wanted a younger actor, but Puri insisted Jagdeep's timing would balance the film's supernatural tension.
• In Nagina, Puri played the menacing tantrik with zero humor, while Jagdeep played the terrified sidekick. Puri deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery in their scenes together — he told Jagdeep on set that the pause would make Jagdeep's stammering reactions funnier.
• During the shoot of Kaun Jeeta Kaun Haara (1988), Jagdeep's son (future actor Jaaved Jaaferi) visited the set. Amrish Puri spent an entire lunch break teaching the 10-year-old how to deliver a villainous laugh. Jaaved later said that moment made him want to act.
• Phool Aur Kaante (1991) was the only film where Puri and Jagdeep played brothers — and it directly launched Ajay Devgn's career. The two veterans were cast specifically to give the newcomer a solid supporting base. Devgn later said their presence made him less nervous on his first day.
