Partnership facts

• Ameerjan was a newcomer when he cast Radha Ravi in Natpu (1986). Radha Ravi was already a known face. He agreed to do the film only after Ameerjan promised him a role with real weight, not just a cameo.
• In Odangal (1986), Radha Ravi played the villain while Ameerjan played the hero. Their fight scenes were shot in single takes because both actors refused to pull punches — the director had to step in to calm them down between shots.
• Ameerjan wrote the dialogue for their scenes together in Uzhaithu Vazhavendum (1988). He gave Radha Ravi long, angry monologues because he knew Radha Ravi could deliver them without a single retake. Radha Ravi later said those scenes were the most fun he had on any set.
• During the shoot of Thai Maasam Poovaasam (1990), Ameerjan and Radha Ravi shared a room in a small lodge near the location. They would stay up late rewriting each other's lines. Radha Ravi once said they finished the film in 22 days because they never argued about the script.
• Radha Ravi once told a magazine: 'Ameerjan never treated me like a star. He treated me like a co-actor. That's why I did four films with him.'
• Their fourth film together, Thai Maasam Poovaasam (1990), was the first Tamil film to feature a scene where the hero and villain share a drink and laugh before a fight. That scene became a template for several 1990s masala films.
