Ameerjan (9 April 1942 – 17 March 2015) was a Tamil cinema director from Salem, Tamil Nadu, who began his career as a long-time assistant to acclaimed director K. Balachander in the late 1970s. He is best known for directing Siva (1989) starring Rajinikanth, along with his debut Poovilangu (1984) which launched the careers of actors Murali and Kuyili. His films consistently blended commercial masala elements with socially relevant themes such as caste discrimination, vigilantism, and rural drama, as seen in Thulasi (1987) and Unnai Solli Kutramillai (1990). He later served as secretary of the Directors' Association of Tamil filmmakers in 2006, reflecting his standing within the industry.
