Partnership facts

• Sripriya was already a star when she agreed to do En Kelvikku Enna Bathil (1978), but Nambiar was the one who insisted she play the female lead opposite him. He told the director that her intensity would match his own — and he was right.
• In Thirisoolam (1979), Nambiar played a cold-blooded villain while Sripriya played his wife. She deliberately slowed down her dialogue delivery in their confrontation scenes to force him to match her rhythm — and it made his silences even more menacing.
• On the sets of Vetrikku Oruvan (1979), Sripriya would bring homemade snacks for the crew every Friday. Nambiar, a strict vegetarian, would only eat if she personally packed his portion separately. She did that for all five films.
• Mangala Vaathiyam (1979) was the only film in their collaboration where they played a romantic couple with no villain angle. Its success directly inspired director S. P. Muthuraman to cast them again in a family drama — but that project never materialized.
• Sripriya once said in a 1982 interview: 'Nambiar sir never looked at me as a co-star. He looked at me as a challenge. Every scene with him felt like a chess match — and I loved it.'
• In Ram Lakshman (1981), their last film together, Nambiar played a double role — and Sripriya played the love interest of both characters. She had to subtly shift her body language between scenes so the audience could tell which brother she was with. Nambiar later told the director that her performance made his dual role believable.
