• Gulshan Grover and Kiran Kumar first faced off in Jeevan Daata (1991) because the director needed a villain who could match Grover's loud menace with cold silence. Kumar got the part after the producer saw him in a stage play where he didn't blink for three minutes.
• In Virodhi (1992), Grover kept improvising his dialogue to make his character more theatrical. Kiran Kumar responded by slowing down his own delivery — forcing Grover to match his pace. The editor later said the scenes worked because Kumar's stillness made Grover's energy look unhinged.
• During the shoot of Himmat (1996), Grover and Kumar shared a hotel room in Ooty for six weeks. They spent nights rewriting each other's lines on napkins. Kumar later admitted they never got along socially — but respected each other's craft enough to keep working.
• Kiran Kumar once said in a 1998 interview: 'Gulshan and I never had a cup of tea together. But on set, we understood each other's rhythm like we'd been doing this for twenty years.'
• The only reason these two worked together three times is that Jeevan Daata (1991) was a surprise hit in small-town Uttar Pradesh. That film's success directly led to Virodhi (1992) being greenlit — a film that otherwise would never have been made.
