• They first shared screen space in Polladhavan (2007) because director Vetrimaaran needed two distinct comic voices to balance Dhanush's intense role. Santhanam was already a rising TV mimicry star, but Karunas was a last-minute replacement — the original actor dropped out, and Karunas stepped in just days before the shoot.
• In Enthiran (2010), Santhanam played the fast-talking sidekick while Karunas played the bumbling assistant. Their rhythm worked because Santhanam set the pace with rapid-fire one-liners, and Karunas deliberately slowed down his delivery — creating a push-pull that made every scene feel like a chase.
• Dhilluku Dhuddu (2016) was the first Tamil horror-comedy to lean entirely on a comedian duo instead of a hero. Its success directly inspired a wave of similar low-budget horror-comedies in Tamil cinema — including the LKG and Kalakalappu sequels that copied the two-comedians-versus-ghosts formula.
• During the making of Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 (2019), Santhanam and Karunas reportedly had a falling out over creative differences — Santhanam wanted more improvisation, Karunas preferred sticking to the script. They haven't worked together since, and neither has publicly explained the rift.
• Karunas once said in an interview: 'Santhanam and I never rehearsed. We'd just look at each other and start talking. If one of us laughed, we knew the scene worked.' He said this while promoting Dhilluku Dhuddu in 2016.
