• Visu was already a big name as a writer-director when he cast S. Ve. Shekher in Kudumbam Oru Kadambam (1981). But Shekher wasn't just an actor — he co-wrote the dialogues. That first film set the template: Visu directed, Shekher wrote the lines.
• Their rhythm was simple: Visu built the story around social issues, and Shekher injected the comedy. In Manal Kayiru (1982), Visu played the straight man to Shekher's motor-mouth — a dynamic they repeated because it worked. Shekher once said Visu gave him the freedom to improvise on set.
