• In Sir (1993), Mushtaq Khan played a comic sidekick to Avtar Gill's villain. Their timing was so sharp that director Mahesh Bhatt let them improvise the entire courtroom scene — none of it was in the script.
• During the shoot of Naaraaz (1994), Avtar Gill would drive Mushtaq Khan home every night because Mushtaq didn't own a car. They'd stop at the same chai stall near Juhu and rehearse the next day's lines together.
• They first met on the set of Sir (1993) when Avtar Gill recommended Mushtaq Khan for a small role after the original actor walked out. Mushtaq got the part on the spot — no audition, just a handshake.
