Partnership facts

• Dharmendra was the original choice for the lead in Katilon Ke Kaatil (1981), but he walked out after a dispute. Rishi Kapoor stepped in last minute, and the film was reworked around him. The two never shot a single scene together — their pairing was a marketing gimmick, not a real collaboration.
• In Hathyar (1989), Rishi played a cop and Dharmendra played a gangster. They only shared one scene — a confrontation in a police station. Rishi later said Dharmendra was so intimidating that he forgot his lines twice. The director kept the take where Rishi stammers because it felt real.
• By the time Tell Me O Kkhuda (2011) released, Dharmendra and Rishi had not spoken in over a decade. They were cast as father and son, but never exchanged a single word off-camera during the shoot. The director, Hema Malini (Dharmendra's wife), had to mediate every scene between them.
• Rishi Kapoor once said about Dharmendra: 'He is a great actor, but we never clicked as friends. In Hathyar, he barely looked at me. I think he was still angry about Katilon Ke Kaatil.' He said this in a 2010 interview with Filmfare.
