• They first worked together in Saagar (1985) because Rishi Kapoor personally requested director Ramesh Sippy to cast Dimple. Sippy had initially considered other actresses, but Rishi insisted — he had just seen her in Bobby and was convinced she was the only one who could play the love triangle opposite him and Kamal Haasan.
• In Saagar, Rishi deliberately slowed down his usual fast-talking, energetic delivery to match Dimple's more measured, melancholic rhythm. He later said he realized their scenes worked because he let her silence do the heavy lifting — he stopped trying to 'win' the scene and started reacting to her pauses.
