• They first met on the set of Hum Paanch (1980), but Shabana almost didn't sign the film. She was hesitant about working with a debutant director (Bapu) and a then-unknown Mithun. It was Mithun who personally convinced her to come on board, promising a 'different kind of film'.
• In Hum Paanch, Mithun played a street-smart conman while Shabana played a naive village girl. Their dynamic worked because Mithun's raw energy forced Shabana to dial down her usual intense method acting — she later said he made her 'lighter' on screen.
