• Bazmee didn't want Anil for No Entry. He thought Anil was too 'heroic' for the comic role. Anil convinced him by showing up to a meeting in a ridiculous wig and doing the entire scene from the script on the spot. Bazmee cast him that afternoon.
• On the sets of Welcome, Anil would deliberately mess up his lines to make Bazmee laugh. Bazmee would then rewrite the scene around whatever Anil had accidentally said. The 'mujhe kya pata' bit in the film came from one of those bloopers.
• Their No Entry directly inspired the wave of multi-starrer comedies that followed in the late 2000s. Without that film's box office, producers wouldn't have greenlit films like Dhamaal or Golmaal Returns — both of which copied the 'one hero, three idiots' template.
• Anil and Bazmee have a standing bet on every film: if the movie crosses ₹100 crore, Bazmee has to cook Anil his signature biryani. Anil has won the bet exactly once — for Welcome. Bazmee still hasn't delivered the biryani.
• Bazmee once said: 'Anil is the only actor who can make me laugh while I'm directing him. He'll do a take, I'll be on the floor laughing, and then I have to yell 'cut' because I forgot to say it.'
