• Dharmendra personally recommended Poonam Dhillon for Krodhi (1981) after seeing her in Trishul. He told the director she had the fire the role needed. That film became their first pairing.
• On the set of Qayamat (1983), Dharmendra would deliberately flub his lines in the middle of a take just to make Poonam break into a genuine laugh. The director kept those takes because her laughter felt more real than any scripted reaction.
• During the shoot of Batwara (1989), Poonam was going through a rough breakup. Dharmendra would sit with her between shots, not saying a word, just making sure she ate lunch. She later called him 'the quietest support system I ever had on set.'
• Poonam Dhillon once said in an interview: 'Dharamji never treated me like a co-star. He treated me like a younger sister who needed protecting. Even when the scene demanded he slap me, he'd whisper, 'Sorry, bachcha' right before the clapboard.'

• In Virodhi (1992), their last film together, Dharmendra insisted on doing a 7-minute single-take argument scene with Poonam. He paced the dialogue delivery so she could match his rhythm without cuts. The editor later said it was the only scene in the film that needed zero trimming.
