• Senthil was already a comedy star when he signed Roja Malare (1997), but Arun Pandian was still finding his footing as a lead. The director paired them specifically to balance Senthil's comic timing with Arun's raw intensity — a gamble that barely worked (3.5/10).
• In Veeranadai (2000), Senthil deliberately slowed his delivery to match Arun Pandian's more deliberate style. Arun later admitted in a 2001 interview that Senthil's patience on set taught him how to hold a pause for effect — something he carried into his later villain roles.
• During the shoot of Devan (2002), Senthil and Arun Pandian shared a room in a small Kumbakonam lodge for three weeks. They played cards every night — Senthil always won, but Arun never stopped trying. Neither spoke about it publicly until a 2015 fan meet.
• The only reason Devan (2002) got a theatrical release was because Senthil called in a favor with a distributor he'd worked with on a previous hit. Arun Pandian's career as a lead was already fading — this film gave him one last shot before he shifted to supporting roles.
