• During the shoot of Veeranadai (2000), Senthil and Ponvannan shared a room in a small lodge near the set. Ponvannan later said Senthil would wake him up at 5 AM to practice comedy scenes in the bathroom mirror.
• Ponvannan once told a magazine: 'Senthil taught me that comedy is not about making people laugh — it's about making them forget they're watching a film.' He said this in a 2001 interview about their Veeranadai experience.
• Their double-act in Government Mappillai (1992) directly inspired the comedy duo track in the 1993 hit Chinna Mapillai, where the director copied their rhythm — one guy falls, the other talks fast.
• Director K. Bhagyaraj cast Senthil and Ponvannan together in Government Mappillai (1992) because he wanted two comedians who could play off each other without stepping on the hero's lines. Senthil was already a star; Ponvannan was a newcomer Bhagyaraj spotted in a stage play.
• In Senathipathi (1996), Senthil did most of the physical comedy — falls, chases, slapstick — while Ponvannan handled the rapid-fire dialogue. They never rehearsed together. They'd just nod at each other before a take and go.
