• Azhagappan was a newcomer when Senthil, already a popular comedian, insisted on casting him as the lead in 'Agaya Thamaraigal' (1985). The director had doubts, but Senthil pushed for it — and that film launched Azhagappan as a hero.
• On the sets of 'Namma Ooru Nalla Ooru' (1986), Senthil would deliberately flub his lines to make Azhagappan laugh during serious scenes. Azhagappan then started doing the same back — and the director kept those takes because the natural laughter felt more real than the scripted comedy.
• After 'En Vazhi Thani Vazhi' (1988) flopped, the two stopped speaking for nearly a decade. Azhagappan later admitted in a 2005 interview that he felt Senthil had become too controlling over their scripts, and Senthil felt Azhagappan had let success get to his head.
• Azhagappan once said: 'Senthil was my film school. He taught me how to time a pause, how to look at the camera without acting. But after four films, I had to leave the school.' — from a 2005 interview with Ananda Vikatan.
• The success of 'Irandil Ondru' (1988) directly inspired director K. S. Ravikumar to cast Senthil and Azhagappan together in a cameo for his 1995 film 'Muthu' — but by then the pair had fallen out, and the cameo never happened.
