V. Azhagappan was a Tamil cinema director known for romantic dramas, who began his career as an assistant to directors Devaraj-Mohan before making his debut with Ramayi Vayasukku Vandhutta. He gained recognition with Aagaya Thamaraigal (1985), starring Suresh and Revathi, and directed the 1988 films Irandil Ondru (starring Ramki, Nadhiya, and Raghuvaran with music by Ilaiyaraaja) and Kungama Kodu. His directorial style leaned toward family-oriented romantic narratives, a genre he returned to consistently across films such as Poomalai Pozhugirathu (1987) and Thangamana Rasa (1989). His final film was Poomaname Vaa (1999), produced by actress Nalini Ramarajan under Nalini Cine Arts, after which he passed away.
