• They first came together for Insaniyat Ke Dushman (1987) because Dimple was coming off a long break after her marriage ended. Shatrughan, already a star, agreed to do the film only if she was cast opposite him — he wanted a co-star with serious acting chops, not just a glamour face.
• In Gunahon Ka Faisla (1988), Shatrughan deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in their confrontation scene so Dimple's pauses would land harder. He told the director he wanted her silence to do the work — a rare move from an actor known for steamrolling scenes.
• During the shoot of Ranbhoomi (1991), Dimple's kids — Twinkle and Rinke — would visit the set. Shatrughan, who had young kids of his own, would take them to the catering van and feed them himself. The two families stayed close for years after the film wrapped.
