• They first shared screen space in Bombay 405 Miles (1980), but the real spark came when they were cast as brothers in Dostana (1980). Pran was initially hesitant to play a positive role opposite Shatrughan — he'd spent decades as the villain. Shatrughan personally convinced him, saying the audience needed to see Pran's softer side.
• In Naseeb (1981), Shatrughan played the loud, brash hero while Pran played the quiet, dignified father figure. Pran deliberately underplayed every scene to make Shatrughan's energy pop. Shatrughan later admitted Pran taught him that 'acting is about listening, not shouting.'
• Off-screen, Pran called Shatrughan 'beta' (son). On the sets of Jwalamukhi (1980), Shatrughan would bring Pran his favorite chai every morning. Pran, in turn, would quietly correct Shatrughan's Hindi diction between takes — no one else dared to.

• In Hoshiyar (1985) — their weakest film together — Shatrughan was visibly struggling with a poorly written role. Pran, playing a blind sage, improvised a scene where he 'sees' through Shatrughan's voice. That single moment is the only thing audiences remember from that film.
