Trivia

  • The film was originally titled 'Sathyamurthy' after the lead character, but was later renamed 'Eththan'.
  • Director L. K. Suresh had previously worked as an assistant director for several prominent filmmakers before this debut.
  • The movie's soundtrack was composed by debutant music director S. S. Rajamouli, not the famous Telugu director, but a different musician with the same name.
  • It was shot extensively in and around the temple town of Kumbakonam, capturing its local atmosphere.
  • The film had a very limited theatrical run and is not widely available on major streaming platforms today.
  • Actor Vimal, who played a key supporting role, was primarily known for comedic parts, making this a slight shift in tone for him at the time.
  • The plot's focus on debt and helping a student in trouble reflects common social themes in early 2010s Tamil rural dramas.
