Trivia

  • The film's title 'Do Dishayen' translates to 'Two Directions', reflecting the story's dual narrative paths.
  • This was one of the few films where Dharmendra and Hema Malini, a real-life couple, played husband and wife on screen.
  • Director Dulal Guha was known for social dramas, but this film leaned more into family melodrama and mistaken identity.
  • The movie was not a major commercial success upon release, overshadowed by bigger hits of 1982 like 'Shakti' and 'Namak Halaal'.
  • A key plot device involves a lookalike, a common trope in Hindi cinema of the era, often used to explore themes of separation and reunion.
  • The soundtrack by Laxmikant-Pyarelal included the popular song 'Tumse Badhkar Duniya Mein', sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.
  • Parts of the film were shot in picturesque outdoor locations, a contrast to its primarily domestic and urban studio settings.
