• They first shared screen space in Kranti (1981), a multi-starrer where both played supporting roles. Neither was the lead — but their one scene together got noticed enough for producers to pair them again.
• In Mawaali (1983), Prem Chopra played the villain who kidnaps Nirupa Roy's character. Their confrontation scene — where she slaps him — became the film's most talked-about moment, because Nirupa insisted on doing the slap for real. Prem later said she left a mark that stayed for days.
• On the sets of Mard (1985), Prem Chopra would bring homemade snacks for Nirupa Roy between shots. She was famously strict about her diet, but she made an exception for his wife's besan laddoos.
• Nirupa Roy once said in an interview: 'Prem is the only villain who made me laugh between takes. He'd crack a joke right before a scene where he was supposed to terrorize me.'
