
Saamy(2003)
Saamy is a 2003 Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by Hari. It stars Vikram as DCP Aarusaamy, with Trisha, Kota Srinivasa Rao, and Vivek in supporting roles. The story follows a police officer who pretends to be corrupt by accepting bribes from a powerful politician, while secretly using the money for public welfare. Set in Tirunelveli, the film explores the clash between a fearless cop and a corrupt political system. The music was composed by Harris Jayaraj, with cinematography by Priyan. Saamy was a commercial blockbuster at the box office, earning approximately ₹25 crore. It started a trend of cop films in Tamil cinema alongside Kaakha Kaakha. The film was remade in Telugu as Lakshmi Narasimha, in Kannada as Ayya, and in Hindi as Policegiri. A sequel titled Saamy Square was released in 2018.

Storyline
A fearless police officer, DCP Aarusaamy, arrives in a crime-ridden city. He pretends to be corrupt by taking bribes from a powerful politician. But his real mission is to destroy the criminal empire from the inside. He must protect the innocent while hiding his true intentions from everyone, including the woman he loves.
