Trivia
- The film was originally titled 'Aladdin' but was changed to 'Alaudin' to avoid copyright issues with Disney's animated classic.
- The movie was shot in just 30 days, a very short schedule for a fantasy film at that time.
- Actor Sathyaraj, who played the villain, was cast for his ability to portray both menace and dark comedy.
- The magical lamp prop was specially designed and made of brass to look authentic on screen.
- The film's climax was shot at a famous fort in Chennai, repurposed to look like a palace.
- Despite the fantasy theme, the director aimed to ground the story in a realistic slum setting.
- The movie had a limited theatrical release and later found a bigger audience on television.
