Pooveli is a 1998 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed and co-written by Selvaa. The film stars Karthik, Abbas, Kausalya, and Heera Rajagopal in lead roles. It is an unofficial remake of the 1995 Hollywood film A Walk in the Clouds, adapted with an Indian cultural context. The story follows Murali, who pretends to be the husband of his heartbroken classmate Maha to save her from her strict father. The film explores contrasting views on love and marriage through its four main characters. Pooveli received positive reviews for its fresh narrative and strong performances. Kausalya won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil for her role. The film was released on 4 December 1998 and was later remade in Telugu as Alludugaaru Vachcharu.

Storyline
