• They first shared screen space in Yari Dushmani (1980), but the real spark came later that same year in Khanjar (1980). Director Atma Ram paired them as romantic leads — a rare move, since Amjad Khan was mostly known as a villain. Reena Roy later said she was nervous acting opposite the man who played Gabbar Singh, but he cracked a joke before the first shot and she relaxed instantly.
• In Naseeb (1981), Amjad Khan played a villain who tries to kill Reena Roy's character. But off-camera, he deliberately flubbed his lines during the fight scene to make her laugh — a trick he used to break her tension. She told a film magazine in 1982 that he was the only co-star who could make her forget the camera was rolling.
• During the shoot of Dharam Kanta (1982), Reena Roy's father passed away. Amjad Khan quietly arranged for her travel back home and postponed the entire schedule by two weeks without telling the producer. He never spoke about it publicly. She mentioned it in a 1985 interview with Stardust.

The director of Qayamat, Rajkumar Kohli, admitted in a 1984 interview that he cast Shakti Kapoor and Poonam Dhillon after watching Rocky's chemistry.
• In Do Waqt Ki Roti (1988), their last film together, Amjad Khan played a blind man. Reena Roy had to physically guide him through every scene. She later said that he insisted on actually closing his eyes during takes — no acting — and trusted her completely to lead him around the set. That trust made their emotional scenes feel real.
