• Nageswara Reddy cast Vennila in Seema Tapakai (2011) after seeing her in a small role in another film. He bet on her comic timing over her looks — a rare move for a female lead in a mass entertainer back then.
• On the sets of Dhenikaina Ready (2012), Vennila would rewrite her own lines in Telugu slang because Nageswara Reddy’s original dialogue felt too stagey. He let her do it for every scene — and started writing with her voice in mind from Current Theega (2014) onwards.
• Current Theega (2014) was the first Telugu film to use a female comedian as the main romantic interest in a mass hero film. After its hit status, at least three other directors copied the template with Vennila in similar roles — but none matched the original pair’s rhythm.
• Vennila and Nageswara Reddy had a standing rule: no script discussions after 8 PM. Both believed overthinking comedy kills it. They’d wrap rehearsals by dinner, then watch old comedy films together on a laptop in his car.
