• Bhim Singh was a music composer before he turned director. Gemini Ganesan personally asked him to direct 'Kalathur Kannamma' (1960) after hearing his score for another film. That was Bhim Singh's directorial debut.
• On the sets of 'Pasamalar' (1961), Gemini would deliberately flub his lines in the first take. Bhim Singh figured out this was Gemini's way of loosening up the crew. So he started rolling camera early, catching Gemini's natural, unguarded reactions. That raw energy made the film a classic.
