• Meena was already a huge star when she signed Sethupathi IPS (1994), but Vijayakanth was still finding his footing as a leading man. She reportedly agreed to the film only after the director promised her role had equal weight — and it did. That film became their first hit together.
• In Vanathai Pola (2000), Meena’s character was the emotional anchor while Vijayakanth played the hot-headed cop. She deliberately slowed down her dialogue delivery to match his gruff, deliberate style — making their arguments feel real, not rehearsed. That rhythm became their trademark.
• Their pairing in Periyanna (1999) was so well-received that it directly inspired the 2001 film Dheena — which launched Ajith Kumar as a mass hero. The producer admitted he wanted to recreate the 'Meena-Vijayakanth family action drama' formula, but with a younger star.
• On the sets of Ulavuthurai (1998), Meena would bring homemade snacks for the entire crew — but Vijayakanth always got a separate box with extra spicy vadai. He never thanked her, but he finished it every single day. She still laughs about it in interviews.
• Meena once said in a 2009 TV interview: 'Vijayakanth sir never gave me a single acting tip. But he gave me space to cry, laugh, and shout on screen without judging. That’s why I kept saying yes to his films.'
• In Mariyadhai (2009), their last film together, Vijayakanth played a mute character for most of the runtime. Meena had to carry every emotional scene through her eyes and body language alone. She later said it was the hardest role she ever did opposite him — because he gave her nothing to react to, and she had to invent everything.
